Project

A Bigger Picture for Worship at Word and Life

Some spaces are built for more than one purpose. Their technology should be too.

Project Brief

A New Chapter in Visual Production

Word and Life Church required a replacement for its ageing projection system, which had become increasingly difficult to maintain as replacement projector lamps were no longer available. The opportunity was to move beyond conventional projection and introduce a versatile LED display solution capable of supporting the venue's wide range of activities. The result is a multi-screen Leyard LED installation, controlled through NovaStar processing technology and installed by Digital Dice.

Challenge

When Projection Reaches Its Limits

For a multi-purpose venue, visual technology needs to adapt to different audiences, content and production requirements. At Word and Life, the existing projection system was approaching the end of its operational life. With replacement lamps no longer available, maintaining the system had become a challenge. The church needed a solution that would support worship services, conferences, school concerts and live performances while providing the flexibility to display camera feeds, graphics and presentation content. The challenge wasn't simply replacing projectors. It was creating a visual platform that could support everything the venue was designed to do.

Solution

Making Room for a Bigger Picture

A comprehensive Leyard LED installation provides the foundation for Word and Life's new visual environment. The system features:

  • 14m × 4m central LED display: A large-format visual centrepiece for the stage.
  • Two 5.12m × 2.88m side displays: Additional visual surfaces supporting the wider auditorium.
  • Stage-front LED displays: Wrap-around screens extending the visual presentation across the performance area.
  • Leyard GF2.5 and LRS039 LED technology: Display solutions used throughout the installation.
  • NovaStar VX400, VX600 and VX1000 processors: Video processing and control for the multi-screen configuration.
  • Installed by Digital Dice, the solution brings multiple display surfaces together into one versatile production environment.

Benefit

More Screens. More Possibilities.

The transition from traditional projection to LED technology introduces greater flexibility for the venue's visual productions. Live camera feeds can support worship services and performances. Graphics and presentation content can be displayed across the stage. Multiple screens provide additional opportunities for visual storytelling. The installation supports the changing requirements of a venue that accommodates everything from worship to conferences and concerts. One venue. Multiple applications. A bigger visual experience.

Story

A New Vision for Worship and Beyond

At Word and Life, the stage is more than a place for Sunday worship. It is a space where music, performances, conferences and community activities come together. Each occasion brings different production requirements, and the technology supporting the venue needs to keep pace. When the church's existing projection system reached the point where replacement lamps were no longer available, it created an opportunity to rethink the visual experience. The answer was a transition to LED. At the centre of the new installation is an expansive 14m × 4m Leyard display, creating a commanding visual feature behind the stage. Two additional side screens, each measuring 5.12m × 2.88m, extend the visual presentation across the auditorium, while wrap-around displays along the front of the stage introduce another dimension to the production environment. The installation combines Leyard GF2.5 indoor LED panels and LRS039 LED panels, with NovaStar processing technology providing control over the visual content. Completed by Digital Dice, the project creates a multi-screen platform capable of supporting live camera feeds, graphics, presentations and multimedia content. For Word and Life, the transition represents more than replacing an ageing projection system. It introduces a flexible visual environment that can adapt to the many ways the venue is used. Because when a space brings people together for different experiences, its technology should be ready for every one of them.
